'Highly important' decision related to particle accelerator at Physics Institute to help in early diagnosis of cancer
“The National Center of Oncology is certainly one of the most important healthcare institutions of our country. And we live at a time when, indeed, being diagnosed with cancer is not a verdict. Cancer is now being classified in the range of other common diseases especially in this pace of development of modern technologies. I am glad to see that we are able to gradually achieve this perception in Armenia as well. What matters for us is to do everything so that we don’t have to treat a disease in late stages, but to have the kind of policy and form the kind of environment where diseases will be diagnosed and prevented early on,” the PM said in his speech.
Pashinyan revealed that his administration is close to making a highly important decision pertaining to the accelerator at the Yerevan Physics Institute, which should help in the early diagnosis of cancer.
“We must have a new level of healthcare with the development of this kind of institutes. But I have to say that healthcare has so far been one of the sectors where we had very little to be ashamed of, moreover, we didn’t have anything to be ashamed of. Even if some kind of problems existed, for example building-related, they have been addressed and resolved timely. We’ve had very serious successes in the scientific-academic area and now it’s time for these successes to be maximally in line with international processes. It is time for us to have a new level of access to healthcare all across the country, and the accessibility to healthcare in all provinces and villages should be an important objective just like we consider the access to education to be an important objective,” the PM added.
In his speech the PM was also pleased to note that both private and governmental healthcare organizations are also listed as the top corporate taxpayers, and the taxes paid by them are also directed to fund the healthcare sector itself.
