The security service put forward the unconstructive claim that Azerbaijan arrested members of an illegal armed group while accusing Iran of having ties with the group.

The accusation has been leveled at a time when the Islamic Republic of Iran officially invited Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev to visit Tehran, but Baku is yet dragging its feet to accept the invitation.

However, Azerbaijan’s security service showed a nervous reaction to the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan’s visit to Iran, embarking on republishing an old list and raised outdated issues.

Turkey’s Anadolu news agency reported that the State Security Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan arrested members of an illegal armed group and put forward claims on their connection to Iran.

The security service also issued a statement, claiming that they conducted inclusive investigations on military training, financial support and movement of Azerbaijani nationals to overseas by “Iranian special forces;” so, they have been arrested due to the use of violence and ransom-taking, which affect the security of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijan ordered international probe and detention in absentia of some elements and some others, who were accused of leading armed groups in 2018, in charge of trying to indoctrinate religious thoughts under the supervision of the Islamic Republic of Iran, while Tehran categorically ruled out the accusation.

Baku also claimed that the Azerbaijani nationals of the so-called Movement for Unity of Muslims had flied to Tehran and then to Damascus to be trained in Syria.
