Group of women convey letter addressed to Ursula von der Leyen to EU Delegation in Yerevan

A group of women from different towns and cities of Armenia came together to rally outside the office of the Delegation of the European Union in Yerevan, ARMENPRESS reports.

The mothers conveyed to the EU Delegation the open letter which, a few days ago, mothers in Artsakh had addressed to President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, asking her to use her influence to end the humanitarian crisis in Artsakh caused by the despotic regime of Azerbaijan.
One of the women who initiated the rally, Araksya Grigoryan, addressed Head of the EU Delegation Ambassador Andrea Wiktorin, asking her to convey the letter to Ursula von der Leyen and not allow Azerbaijan to hold 120,000 people, including 30,000 children, hostage in the blockade.
“We are here to join the call of the mothers in Artsakh and convey this open letter to the Head of the EU Delegation in Armenia, Ambassador Andrea Wiktorin, so that they take actions to unblock Artsakh and end Azerbaijan’s criminal and terrorist actions,” Grigoryan said, adding that the international community hasn’t taken sufficient steps so far because the Lachin corridor – Artsakh’s only road to Armenia and the rest of the world – remains blocked for more than 50 days.
120,000 people, including 30,000 children in Artsakh are deprived of their basic rights due to the blockade. Schools and kindergartens are shut down. There are widespread shortages of food, medicine and other essential supplies.
