Azerbaijan attempts to conceal its actions by falsely accusing Armenia of provocations, warns senior diplomat

By falsely accusing the Armenian side of military provocations along the Armenian-Azerbaijani border and in Nagorno-Karabakh, the Azerbaijani authorities are attempting to conceal their own actions, Ambassador-at-Large Edmon Marukyan said in an interview with TASS, addressing Azeri presidential assistant Hikmat Hajiyev’s false statement, ARMENPRESS reports.

“This is completely untrue. This complaint conceals all the actions that Azerbaijan has carried out in the recent period. One year ago, Azerbaijan launched a large-scale aggression against the Republic of Armenia, we had over 200 deaths, many were wounded, and we had new POWs. All of this that happened during the process of peace talks has no substantiation or justification, this was an unprovoked aggression. Azerbaijan is attempting to make this get forgotten. Despite the fact that it has occupied approximately 150 square kilometers territory of Armenia, Azerbaijan doesn’t fulfill the demands voiced by Armenia and the international community on withdrawing its troops from our sovereign territory,” Marukyan said, adding that Azerbaijan should pull back its forces and release all prisoners of war and other detainees in accordance with its obligations.
