Video - Armenia is ready to continue negotiations, come to Brussels, reach final point and sign peace treaty: Secretary of Security Council

We have repeatedly said that we are ready for a trilateral meeting in Brussels. Armen Grigoryan, Secretary of Security Council of Armenia, said within the framework of the ‘Strategic Future of Armenia: Armenia-Europe’ forum being held in Brussels on Friday referring to Armenia-Azerbaijan relations and Armenia's readiness to establish peace in this contex, 1lurer reports.

“There was a planned meeting at the leadership level at the end of October. Armenia expressed readiness to come to that meeting, but unfortunately, that meeting did not take place. We hope that it will be possible in the near future,” he said.

Armen Grigoryan reminded that the peace agenda was also approved by the mandate, stressing that the ruling political team also received a mandate for the peace agenda.

In this context, the Secretary of the Security Council also spoke about the important principles for the establishment of peace. The border between Armenia and Azerbaijan should be clarified, the area of 29,800 square kilometers in the case of Armenia and 86,600 in the case of Azerbaijan should be publicly confirmed. Unblocking must take place, based on the 4 principles of sovereignty, jurisdiction, reciprocity and equality.

“These are important principles on which we are ready to conclude the negotiations, as well as to solve all the existing humanitarian problems that exist.

One of the important issues is also the return of all prisoners and also the establishment of peace in general, and Armenia is ready to continue the negotiations with this agenda, come to Brussels, reach the final point and sign the peace treaty. And we believe that peace will also strengthen democracy. They are mutual, mutually reinforcing tools, and the peace of the region is very important in that sense,” he said.
